On Sunday we had to travel to a place near Broadway in Worcestershire. It was a long journey, but the M4 and other roads were all surprisingly quiet and we were there almost before we knew it. The sun was shining and the countryside bursting with colour, hedgerows full of wild flowers, and the poppies looking radiant in contrast to the green of the trees and grasses. We passed one field in particular that was stunning! It seemed to be bright blood red. I had my camera ‘handy’, but of course there was no chance to stop so the only picture I have is this one
Actually, this is of more use than a photograph of a full field of red. I can see that I will use it as it could be interpreted in a variety of textile techniques – and I feel the urge to at least start a sketchbook of ideas based on it.
Our arrival at our destination was breathtaking too.
It was a little hazy, and sadly we had no time to take it all in, but next time we visit we will know what to expect and be prepared to indulge ourselves for a short time…… weather permitting!
