Goodbye Josie

It is never easy to say ‘Goodbye’ for the last time, and often we don’t get the chance to say it.  The other grandmother of my daughter’s children died yesterday afternoon, very suddenly.  She was very recently diagnosed with a rare condition, and was only just out of hospital.

We haven’t see her for some time.  She was diminutive and enjoyed life to the full.  Sociable within her own circle of friends I know that she will be sadly missed.  Our grandchildren are devastated, as too is her husband.

Josie was one day older than me.  Makes you think, doesn’t it.

  1. So sorry to hear of your loss. You are right. We always forget that we may not have another chance to say goodbye…today just may be the day. I hope your grandchildren and all will soon begin to heal.

  2. So sorry for your loss. As we get older the reality of the brevity of our lives becomes more and more evident and we never know the moment our turn will come. I hope that eventually your grandchildren and their grandfather will be comforted by good memories.

  3. Sorry to hear about your sadness. Death does make you think, we all expect to go on forever. My thoughts are very much with the tragic loss of life on the M5 on Friday evening. We must try to live for each moment. I hope you and especially your grandchildren have lots of photos and memories.

  4. Please accept my sincere sympathy. I hope your grandchildren, and their father, find some sort of comfort at this time of great sorrow.
You’re right Myfanwy… we need to be ready.
