The leaves are new this year, but the lichen somewhat older.

That looks like a Ginkgo, my favourite tree.
Well done! You got it in one. It makes a lovely contrast with the lichen. (Well, I think it does!)

Cool idea — fast and slow…I like it.
Thanks for the pingback too!
Interesting reminder – and nice take on the challenge! thanks, also for the pingback!
Thanks for the pingback! Your header images are stunning … thanks for including a button so I could find out more about them. So smart! =)
You are welcome, and thankyou. Have a great day
Thanks so much for the pingbacks!
You are welcome
We have the Ginko Tree growing in our park in Newmarket, Canada too.very pretty trees. Ps I have notice that several of you bloggers are linking other “Weekly photo Challenge” bloggers on their site like you have . I am new at this and now I am wondering if that is what every one suppose to do?
No, there is no obligation. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I liked your photo and the idea of old and new growth. Another spin is that the Ginkgo (the tree you have in the photo) is a living fossil!
Indeed. It’s a beautiful specimen tree, and is in danger of being destroyed. I’ll treasure that photo in years to come. Thanks for visiting.
Thanks! Your pingback notice was in my spam box. Every so often a few real ones slip through, and yours was one of three this week.
Yes, I often find a couple in my box too. Thanks for commenting.

Oh, that is really clever, Myfanwy! I often watch the lichen during the winter and forget it when the leaves arrive to obscure it.
