Chapter Four – The End is Nigh

If you have been following this blog you will have read this post from last week.  I knew that the time for The Things to move on was fast approaching, so I had a treat in store for them!  This time they were OFFICIALLY going on a trip (official in the sense that I knew they were going……)

You can understand that I couldn’t trust them to be loose in the car, they might have escaped!  So, you can imagine how pleased they were to be let out of the bag

They were very anxious to look at the hotel room and see their surroundings

They even posed for a shot

They preferred the view outside, though

even though they weren’t really tall enough to enjoy it properly

Taking charge of the TV control was no effort, though, and before long they were channel flicking.  It’s ironic that they chose to watch this one for the longest…..  read on!

Yes, the day had arrived for my next visit to the TV studios.  Now the fact that it is a shopping channel may not really qualify for the title of TV as far as some of you are concerned, but I have to say that the boys and girls in charge of the programmes are lovely, and I hoped that they would welcome the Things with open arms.  Sure enough, they were allowed on set, but not just on set – they were allowed to make their debut!

Just being part of the scenery was not good enough for them, of course, slowly they worked their way onto the table….  If you look closely you can just see them

I think they hoped for a closeup!

And lo and behold!  Ellis obliged!  Look at those faces – they were in heaven!

Who knows what tomorrow may bring.  Today is a very special birthday for someone, and it’s just possible that they may make their way to a birthday party tomorrow night.  I have warned them, though….

NO ALCOHOL!

Chapter Three – Trying to be Helpful!

It hasn’t all been bad!  I thought I’d just show you some of the ways The Things have tried to be helpful.

No, they aren’t playing Hide and Seek!  This was their endeavour to be invisible while we did the stocktaking at the beginning of the month

This was all we could see!  Then I heard them….. ‘One…..Two……’  They can’t count any higher than that!

They tried to help with the packaging of parcels, but mostly just got lost in the bubblewrap.

Tea and coffee making became a little difficult when they fell in love with our new kettle.  ‘Mommy’ was all that they would say!

It was a while before I could convince them that getting into the bread machine didn’t help with the finished product!

Fresh Basil is lovely in Italian cooking.  I’ll miss their help with plucking the leaves when they go.

Vegetable Soup has become their favourite!  Take notice that they now need their fill at least once a day.

;)

Chapter Two – Almost a Step Too Far

Yes, another post from me today.  Here is the first one, it will explain why there are more than one!

I had hoped that The Things would have a wonderful time visiting attractions like Buckingham Palace and Hampton Court.  However, it’s been a busy time, and sometimes it’s been necessary to leave them at home.  We recently visited a large group of ladies in the West Country, for instance, and I made sure that they were comfortable tucked up in a secure place before we left.

We duly arrived, and set up

The tables were suitable arranged in readiness for the gathering,

and it wasn’t long before they were all filled.

Shopping, lunch and an interesting speaker were the order of the day.

However, an eagle-eyed delegate noticed a movement in the floral display

They were determined not to miss a thing!

They jostled for the best vantage point

One was happy, but the other decided to move again

Of course, they couldn’t stay still for long

And they even tried to escape by hiding in someone’s bag

However, I knew the time to leave had come when they went missing for some time.  Finally I found them, but they really should have known better!

Not only did they have insane grins on their faces, they also had crossed eyes………………!

Chapter Three.

Chapter One – A Cautionary Tale

There will be several posts today.  It is catch up time, and I’ll link each one back to this first one.  You may have thought that THE THINGS had already left, but far from it – they have continued to cause madness and mayhem as we travelled from place to place.  The time will soon come for them to move on, so this cautionary tale (and the ones that follow) are indications of what to expect for the next host or hostess.  I had hoped that a visit to our cultural and historical country would have given them a chance to mature, however, this first post will probably convince you that that is just NOT going to happen…..

So, it is a while since we travelled to South Wales.  It was a teaching trip at Busy Bees in Newport, and the last place I would have wanted them to come as I knew there would be too many opportunities for The Things to get lost.  Sadly, they have obviously learnt a thing or two on their travels, and I had not sooner removed my coat that to find…..

….. Two little Things trying to get out of my pocket!

What a shock for 14 lovely ladies!  It was meant to be a workshop on the embellisher, but as you will see, once they saw the colour there was no keeping the Things under control, and most of the time was spent chasing them around the room.

What a squeal went up when they saw these colours, they thought it matched their hair, and wanted a coat.  I can see they need some colour lessons!

Frankly, I think this went well with their hair, but they were more interested in hiding underneath it.  Thing One disappeared really quickly

It wasn’t long before they found this one.  Thing Two thought it made them invisible.  Thank goodness for turquoise hair!

At coffee time they found this flower!  They wanted it for a buttonhole……..       We had to drag them away.

They were only left alone for a minute.  Off they went again – this time find some pretty fibres.  It took us ages to untangle them,

and, undaunted, they just went off to find some more mischief.

We had hoped that they would take an afternoon nap, but no such luck.  They were desperate for a ‘go’, however I feel that they are too young to play with needles

So, another tangling seemed to be the order of the day!

They soon found more

More squeals announced that they had found another ‘buttonhole’

Then, just for a moment, they went quiet, and we thought they had gone to sleep!

We were wrong!  Off they went to play roly poly on another partly made cushion

but this was once again changed for some more quick tangling.

Finally, though, something took their eye, and all was peace until they saw something really unexpected out of the corner of the eyes

FRIENDS!

At last, we had some peace and quiet was negotiated!
