Weekly Photo Challenge – Together

Taken a while ago, but he’s still just as proud!

For further details of the challenge, and for lots more entries, take a look here

Always read what you write!

I did too much yesterday.  In truth, I hardly did anything, but even nothing was too much!  Today has mostly been spent in bed, recovering.  I feel a wimp, but it won’t last forever.

I did, however, upload the photographs from my camera.  I had forgotten what was on there, even though it was only those from a few days ago.  This was one

Yes, I admit it’s a bad photo, but it’s a ‘team’ photo!  I’m not on the team, but all those that are are shown.  Obviously the man at the top is the head of the team.

The four in the middle are all co-ordinators of one sort or another

The man at the top?

Why, it’s theTeaching and Learning Co-ordinMator!

It’s from a not very local secondary school.  Obviously no-one ever looks at the board.

Gone but not forgotten……

We couldn’t allow the things to leave without celebrating their visit!

As you can see, they were really excited to visit an Indian Restaurant!

Becoming even more excited when they realised that the Poppadums were all for them!

It didn’t take them long to finish them off.

But soon perked up again when they saw what followed…….

Then it was time to prepare them for their journey :(

A gentle roll in some special tissue paper, must keep them safe.

Next, a gentle wrap with special string.  We can’t have them escaping en route

Finally, they were popped into a padded cell  envelope

They are now in the care of the Post Office and on their way to pastures new.  I’m looking forward to following their adventures in another part of Europe next.

Share your World

Yesterday Cee asked us if we would like to join her by answering the following questions.

  1. Do you play video/computer game?  Which one(s) or most recent?
  2. When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?
  3. What has surprised me about blogging?
  4. If you had a shelf for your three most special possessions (not including people or animals), what would you put on it?

These are my answers.  Here we go:

  1. Do you play video/computer game?  Which one(s) or most recent?

No, no computer games.  My biggest time-waster is Sudoku – but with a pen or pencil.  And I always start at the back of the book!

  1. When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?

If I’m writing a letter I’ll use a pen, but I use a pencil a lot too, for journals or doodling.  I can’t keep my fingers still

  1. What has surprised me about blogging?

The strength and camaraderie of the blogging community!  I didn’t expect to have such support from people I’ve actually never met!

  1. If you had a shelf for your three most special possessions (not including people or animals), what would you put on it?

That’s easy!  Firstly it will be a small wooden chair made by my grandfather during his apprenticeship as a marine engineer.  It is a beautifully made replica.

Secondly, a folder that contains the most precious scraps of drawings and paintings by my growing children and grandchildren

Thirdly, my bible.

Chapter Four – The End is Nigh

If you have been following this blog you will have read this post from last week.  I knew that the time for The Things to move on was fast approaching, so I had a treat in store for them!  This time they were OFFICIALLY going on a trip (official in the sense that I knew they were going……)

You can understand that I couldn’t trust them to be loose in the car, they might have escaped!  So, you can imagine how pleased they were to be let out of the bag

They were very anxious to look at the hotel room and see their surroundings

They even posed for a shot

They preferred the view outside, though

even though they weren’t really tall enough to enjoy it properly

Taking charge of the TV control was no effort, though, and before long they were channel flicking.  It’s ironic that they chose to watch this one for the longest…..  read on!

Yes, the day had arrived for my next visit to the TV studios.  Now the fact that it is a shopping channel may not really qualify for the title of TV as far as some of you are concerned, but I have to say that the boys and girls in charge of the programmes are lovely, and I hoped that they would welcome the Things with open arms.  Sure enough, they were allowed on set, but not just on set – they were allowed to make their debut!

Just being part of the scenery was not good enough for them, of course, slowly they worked their way onto the table….  If you look closely you can just see them

I think they hoped for a closeup!

And lo and behold!  Ellis obliged!  Look at those faces – they were in heaven!

Who knows what tomorrow may bring.  Today is a very special birthday for someone, and it’s just possible that they may make their way to a birthday party tomorrow night.  I have warned them, though….

Chapter Three – Trying to be Helpful!

It hasn’t all been bad!  I thought I’d just show you some of the ways The Things have tried to be helpful.

No, they aren’t playing Hide and Seek!  This was their endeavour to be invisible while we did the stocktaking at the beginning of the month

This was all we could see!  Then I heard them….. ‘One…..Two……’  They can’t count any higher than that!

They tried to help with the packaging of parcels, but mostly just got lost in the bubblewrap.

Tea and coffee making became a little difficult when they fell in love with our new kettle.  ‘Mommy’ was all that they would say!

It was a while before I could convince them that getting into the bread machine didn’t help with the finished product!

Fresh Basil is lovely in Italian cooking.  I’ll miss their help with plucking the leaves when they go.

Vegetable Soup has become their favourite!  Take notice that they now need their fill at least once a day.

Chapter Two – Almost a Step Too Far

Yes, another post from me today.  Here is the first one, it will explain why there are more than one!

I had hoped that The Things would have a wonderful time visiting attractions like Buckingham Palace and Hampton Court.  However, it’s been a busy time, and sometimes it’s been necessary to leave them at home.  We recently visited a large group of ladies in the West Country, for instance, and I made sure that they were comfortable tucked up in a secure place before we left.

We duly arrived, and set up

The tables were suitable arranged in readiness for the gathering,

and it wasn’t long before they were all filled.

Shopping, lunch and an interesting speaker were the order of the day.

However, an eagle-eyed delegate noticed a movement in the floral display

They were determined not to miss a thing!

They jostled for the best vantage point

One was happy, but the other decided to move again

Of course, they couldn’t stay still for long

And they even tried to escape by hiding in someone’s bag

However, I knew the time to leave had come when they went missing for some time.  Finally I found them, but they really should have known better!

Not only did they have insane grins on their faces, they also had crossed eyes………………!
